Story:

Sony introduced the State of Play format in March 2019 as a new approach to engaging with the PlayStation community through direct-to-consumer broadcasts. Inspired by Nintendo Direct, this initiative allows Sony to showcase upcoming titles in a more controlled and digital format. It marks a shift from traditional industry events like E3, giving Sony greater flexibility in how it delivers news and updates to its audience.

State of Play broadcasts vary in length and content, typically featuring a mix of announcements, including new game reveals, gameplay footage, and updates on previously announced titles. Occasionally, they also include hardware announcements. These broadcasts are streamed on platforms like YouTube and Twitch. In addition to State of Play, Sony also hosts PlayStation Showcase, a format dedicated to unveiling new first-party titles from PlayStation Studios. However, in recent years, major first-party announcements have increasingly been included in regular State of Play events as well.

In addition to State of Play broadcasts, PlayStation also hosts other digital events that do not carry the "State of Play" branding. The featured games are listed in the order they were presented during each event.
